Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou, Board Member, Invest Cyprus

Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou is joint CEO of TOTOTHEO MARITIME, a leading global serviceprovider specialising in innovative, efficient, and functional solutions in the fields of digitalization, maritime satellite communications, automation, and navigation systems. She is President of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association, an organization comprised of 54 National WISTA Associations. She has been instrumental to WISTA’s success in receiving consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2018. She is a board member of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation and Invest Cyprus. She also sits on the Board of Governors of the Cyprus Maritime Academy and the Strategic Committee of CransMontana – Club of Ports. In July 2020, she was elected as a Member to the General committee of the Association of SA and Limited Companies in Greece and as Head of its Shipping Sector committee. Leading international shipping publication Lloyd’s List selected Despina as one of theTop 100 Most Influential people in shipping in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. In 2019 she was also named as the “International Personality of the Year” at the Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards. She holdsdegrees from the National and Capodistrian University of Athens, the Copenhagen Business School,and the University of Oxford.

Michalis P. Michael, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Invest Cyprus

Michalis P. Michael is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency since January 2018. He has a long professional career in business and audit services, both as a sole practitioner and as a Partner in KPMG Cyprus. Michael has a vast experience in the Ukrainian market, and he is the Chairman of the Cyprus-Ukraine Business Association from 2012 until today. Michael has been actively involved with public life since his early career. Formerly, he served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (1996-2000), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Organisation of Land Development (2000-2003), Member of the Committee for the Supervision and Development of Cooperative Societies (2003-2013). He was also Member of the Board of Directors of The Cyprus University of Technology (2014-2016) where he held the position of Vice-President (July 2016-2018). Michalis is a Chartered Certified Accountant, a Fellow member of the UK Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus, of which he served also as a Member of the Board of Directors.

Kyriacos Kokkinos, Deputy Minister to the President, Deputy Ministry to the President of Cyprus for Research, Innovation & Digital Policy

Kyriacos Kokkinos is the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, since March1st 2020. He previously served as Chief Scientist for Research & Innovation (R&I), Chairman of the Research & Innovation Foundation and Member of the National Board of R&I. He is a distinguished professional with 30 years of experience in Executive Management, Technology and Business Consulting, having served at senior Executive roles in global corporations eg. IBM Europe and PwC, and the Board of many Organisations, including Invest Cyprus and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation. He is the recipient of numerous awards for professional excellence, including ‘Business Leader ofthe Year 2016, by Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His Academic qualifications include Executive MBA in Strategic Management and MSc & BSc in Electrical Engineering.

George Campanellas, CEO, Invest Cyprus

George Campanellas is the Chief Executive Officer of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (Invest Cyprus) and the Vice President of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA). He has nearly twenty years of professional experience in Cyprus and abroad, working with the DG Competition in Brussels and directly with the Cypriot Ministers of Health and Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism. George has been actively involved in the development of the oil & gas sector in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone, dealing with licensing, exploration and exploitation activities, as well as promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation at a regional level. Throughout his career, he also had an active role in drafting the regulatory framework and running the relevant licensing procedures for attracting Foreign Direct Investment in sectors of strategic importance and large-scale infrastructure projects, such as the LNG terminal at Vasilikos Energy Center, Cyprus Techno Park, EuroAsia Interconnector and the City of Dreams Mediterranean, Europe’s largest integrated casino resort and Cyprus’ largest FDI project.

Maria Hadjiyerou, Business Intelligence & Strategy, Invest Cyprus

Maria Hadjiyerou is responsible for Business Intelligence and Strategy at Invest Cyprus. She is passionate about assisting businesses and investors make informed, sustainable, and impactful decisions and improving the local ecosystem to allow them to do so. In her current role she works on establishing strategies and policies that will make Cyprus an even more attractive business center and further develop sectors that will diversify Cyprus’ offering, such as the Information, Technology and Communications sector. Maria spent the first 10 years of her career working with Deloitte and EY as a consultant in London (8 years) and Cyprus (2 years), specializing in M&A, business modelling, and strategic decision support. She holds a BA in Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics from the University of Warwick and an ACA qualification by the ICAEW. In her personal time, Maria enjoys travelling, swimming, reading, and playing the French horn and the ukulele.

Theo Parperis, Partner, PwC Cyprus

Theo Parperis is a Partner at PwC Cyprus. He is a member of the Management Board and Head ofTax and Legal Services. He has vast experience in Tax and statutory compliance for internationalgroups, Advising and assisting international clients with group restructuring plans, Providingcomprehensive solutions for private clients and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) covering boththeir corporate and private wealth interests, Family office structuring, Corporate and private wealthconsolidation and reporting and Tax and Legal support in acquisition / sale of private assets . Theois primarily engaged with International clients operating in a broad range of sectors, including tradein oil and commodities (e.g. metals), transportation, shipping, tourism, manufacturing, informationand technology. He is a graduate of London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) andis a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Heis also a full member of STEP. Theo has also served as president of the Institute of Certified PublicAccountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) from June 2011 to June 2013. Theo is a keen sportsman havingcompleted Marathons, Olympic distance, Triathlon and Ironman.

Pangratios Vanezis, Board Member, Enterprise & Startups Leader, KPMG

Pangratios Vanezis is a Board Member, Fintech Partner and leader of Enterprise & Startups at KPMG in Cyprus. He joined the Firm in 2003 and became a Board Member in 2016. He has extensive experience in auditing clients from diverse industries, including banking, insurance, technology sectorand capital markets. He is KPMG Cyprus IFRS 9 and IFRS 17 leader and country implementation leader of the KPMG new audit tool Clara. Pangratios is mentoring startup teams whilst he is also involved in developing their business model, got-to-market approach and fundraising process. He is very influential in the growing entrepreneurship and startup ecosystem in Cyprus and he is a speaker, host and moderator in many local events.

Maria Clappa, Partner, Tassos Papadopoulos & Associates LLC

Maria Clappa joined the firm in 2013 and became a Partner in 2016. Starting her career in the financial services industry as an in-house lawyer, she was later appointed the head of the legal, secretarial and compliance department at one of the largest financial groups in Cyprus. In 2011, she took over as head of fiduciary services at a fiduciary service provider in Cyprus. Currently, her practice at the firm is focused on private investments, joint ventures, property acquisitions and developments, immigration law and corporate affairs. She also has expertise in matters such as the formation, licensing and ongoing compliance of Alternative Investment Funds, CIFs and other entities and activities in the sphere of financial services. She is also registered as a Certified Person on the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. Maria has contributed articles to various publications on Investments and Business in Cyprus, Cypriot immigration Law. She has an LLB from the University of North London (1998) and was admitted to the Cyprus Bar the following year. She also holds an LLM in Venture Capital from the University of Westminster (2000).

Avi Sela has been the COO of eToro Group Limited since inception, 2007. He serves as Managin gDirector of eToro EU LTD and as Executive Director of eToro UK. Avi is responsible for legal affairs, compliance, back office, operation risk management and payment operations. He oversees the compliance needs for the eToro Group. With more than 25 years in the field of corporate operations andafter a few years spent managing amdocs Americas operations, he returned to Cyprus in 2017 andwas appointed as Head of amdocs Cyprus, which he continues to lead on its journey of serving theworld’s leading communications and media companies.
