Michalis P. Michael, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Invest Cyprus

Michalis P. Michael is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency since January 2018. He has a long professional career in business and audit services, both as a sole practitioner and as a Partner in KPMG Cyprus. Michael has a vast experience in the Ukrainian market, and he is the Chairman of the Cyprus-Ukraine Business Association from 2012 until today. Michael has been actively involved with public life since his early career. Formerly, he served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (1996-2000), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Organisation of Land Development (2000-2003), Member of the Committee for the Supervision and Development of Cooperative Societies (2003-2013). He was also Member of the Board of Directors of The Cyprus University of Technology (2014-2016) where he held the position of Vice-President (July 2016-2018). Michalis is a Chartered Certified Accountant, a Fellow member of the UK Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus, of which he served also as a Member of the Board of Directors.

Demetra Kalogerou, Chairwoman, Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission

Demetra Kalogerou (BSc, MSc, MPhil) is the Chairwoman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, the public independent supervisory authority responsible for the overall supervision of the securities market in Cyprus. She is also a member of the five-member Public Oversight Committee that super vises auditors and audit firms. Furthermore, from September 2013 to June 2014, she served as a member of the then tripartite Resolution Authority together with the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus. Previously she served as senior Officer of the Cyprus Stock Exchange. Overall she has more than 15 years of experience in the financial sector.

George Campanellas, CEO, Invest Cyprus

George Campanellas is the Chief Executive Officer of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (Invest Cyprus) and the Vice President of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA). He has nearly twenty years of professional experience in Cyprus and abroad, working with the DG Competition in Brussels and directly with the Cypriot Ministers of Health and Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism. George has been actively involved in the development of the oil & gas sector in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone, dealing with licensing, exploration and exploitation activities, as well as promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation at a regional level. Throughout his career, he also had an active role in drafting the regulatory framework and running the relevant licensing procedures for attracting Foreign Direct Investment in sectors of strategic importance and large-scale infrastructure projects, such as the LNG terminal at Vasilikos Energy Center, Cyprus Techno Park, EuroAsia Interconnector and the City of Dreams Mediterranean, Europe’s largest integrated casino resort and Cyprus’ largest FDI project.

Marios Tannousis, Deputy Director General, Invest Cyprus / Board Member, European Fund and AssetManagement Association (EFAMA)

He has more thantwenty four years of international corporate experience, with twelve years in the internationalbanking and financial services group Societe Generale, where he served at various key posts.He is a Member of the Board of the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA)as well as the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA). He also served as President of theCyprus Finance & Leasing Association and Board Member in various other organizations andbodies. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and holdsa Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Rutgers University, NJ, USA and an MBA from MankatoState University (MSU), MN, USA. He is also Certified for offering investment services and has aspecial interest in Economic Development through Investments especially in Banking, FinancialServices and Investment Funds. He represents Cyprus in various international and EuropeanConferences.

Andreas Yiasemides, President, Cyprus Investment Funds Association / Partner, in charge of Funds Services, PwC Cyprus

Andreas Yiasemides is the President of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) and aPartner at PwC Cyprus, in charge of the Fund Services of the organisation. On his graduationfrom the University of Manchester with a first class degree in Economics, he joined PwC in 1999and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (FCA). He continued his career with the Bank of Cyprus,holding various positions including heading the Custody and Trusts Unit. He then moved on toan organisation of professional services where he set up and led the Fund Services Unit. He hasserved as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Cyprus and of the Central Bank ofCyprus as well as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment FundsAssociation (CIFA). He is also Vice Chairman of the Cyprus National Advisory Council of CharterInstitute for Securities and Investment (CISI). Andreas Yiasemides has also been elected as thePresident of the Cyprus India Business Association.

Clea Evagorou, Partner, Financial Services Leader for North South Europe, Risk Advisory, Deloitte

Clea Evagorou is a Partner in Risk Advisory at Deloitte in Cyprus and FSI Leader for Deloitte North South Europe for the service line. Clea specialises in Banking and Financial Services, leading Deloitte’s Investment Management and Funds offerings. She is a member of Deloitte’s Banking Union Centre in Frankfurt and EMEA Centre for Regulatory Strategy; and Vice President of ICPAC’s Financial Services Committee. Clea is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Tax Advisor and a Member of the UK’s Institute of Consulting. In 2019, she was awarded the Banking and Finance Strategy Consultant of the year in Cyprus at the Corporate International Global awards.

Andria Koukounis, Advocate, Director, Financial Services, Funds and Capital Markets, Prountzos & Prountzos LLC | EY Law Services

Andria Koukounis is a Director in the Financial Services, Funds and Capital Markets. She is an experienced banking and finance law practitioner with a particular focus on commercial transactions, project financing and restructuring deals. She regularly advises financial institutions on legal and regulatory issues and represents them in contentious proceedings. She is a member of the CIFA Legal and Regulatory Committee. Andria has extensive experience in establishing Alternative Investment Funds and representing regulated entities during the licensing stage and throughout their operations. She is also frequently engaged in providing legal advisory support to Alternative Investment Fund Managers who are active in a number of jurisdictions through the passporting regime.

Christina Economou, Business Development Director, Trident Trust Company (Cyprus)

Christina Economou is the Business Development Director of Trident Trust. Christina has over 20 years of experience in the international banking industry. Through her employment was responsible in building, developing and servicing a portfolio of HNW Corporate Structures and Corporate Offshore Structures, Fiduciaries and Trust clients according to their investment and core banking needs such as Credit, Foreign Exchange, Cash Management, Trade Finance.  Christina holds a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Cyprus International Institute of Management. She is also a holder of the Professional Certificate in International Investment Fund Services of the Institute of Banking in Ireland. Christina is a member of the AIF committee of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association and a member of the Board of the Cyprus India Business Association.

Margarita Liasi, Principal, Tax Services, KPMG in Cyprus

Margarita Liasi is a Principal with KPMG’s International Tax and Corporate Service in Cyprus. Shegraduated with an LLB (Honours) in Law from the University of Sheffield and an LLM in InternationalCommercial Law from the University of Nottingham. Prior to joining the Τax department of KPMGLimited in 2006, Margarita practiced in law firms and participated in various litigation proceduresbefore the Cyprus courts. As a member of KPMG Cyprus, Margarita has been actively engagedthe public dialogue contributing ideas as to the formulation of tax policy with regards to taxamendments aiming to enhance the competitiveness of the Cyprus tax system whilst ensuringadherence to the European Acquis. She is also actively involved in advising clients in relation totheir corporate tax affairs with a particular focus on EU Tax matters and their applicability to theCyprus tax regime. Margarita also serves as KPMG Limited’s liaison with KPMG’s EU Tax Centerand is also a member of various other KPMG Networks.

Stephanie Panayi, Head of Strategic Projects, Invest Cyprus

Stephanie Panayi is leading the Strategic Projects Unit, dedicated to attract and facilitate foreign direct investments into sectors of strategic importance for the Cyprus Government, including hospitality & tourism, healthcare, energy infrastructure and large commercial real estate. She is experienced in the field of foreign direct investment, asset management, private equity, investor relations management and business development. Her role is focused on identifying big-ticket investment opportunities across strategic goals, available in both the public and the private sector in Cyprus, while she is also engaged in the communication with Institutional Investors. Stephanie’s studies include Applied Foreign Languages Degree and MSc in International Management &Business. She is also a holder of Hotel Asset Management Certificate from Ecole Hôtelière DE Lausanne and Private Equity Investment Certificate from IFF, UK. Ms Panayi is also the President of the Cyprus Federation of Young Business and Professional Women (Young BPW). She is fluent in Greek, English and French and conversant in Russia.
